FAQ

Are these 100% linen or a blend?

They feature a premium composition of 20% Linen, 10% Cotton, and 70% Polyester.

This specific blend is designed to offer the best of both worlds: the 30% natural fiber content provides the authentic, organic 'slub' texture and softness you love, while the high-performance polyester ensures they are durable, drape beautifully, and resist deep wrinkling.

Can people see through these at night?

It depends on the lining you pick! The 'Unlined' option filters light but isn't total privacy at night. If you want full privacy, definitely go for the 'Privacy Lining' or 'Blackout' option. The 'Same-Fabric' liner is also great for street-facing windows.

How do I clean them if they get dirty?

Maintenance is surprisingly effortless. These curtains are safe to machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.

To preserve the fabric's texture and shape, please do not tumble dry. Instead, simply hang them up to air dry. If touch-ups are needed, iron on the back side only at a low temperature to keep the face fabric looking pristine.

Do I need to buy 2 panels for one window?

Yes, these are sold per panel. For a standard window, most people buy two panels to get that nice fullness in the middle. If you have a tiny narrow window, one might do the trick!

How accurate are the custom sizes?

Spot on. Because we cut these to your specific width and length, they fit exactly how you want them to. No more 'close enough' curtains that drag on the counter. See our full Measurement Guide here

Is the price for one panel or a pair (two panels)?

The price shown is for one cafe curtain panel. For a typical window with a balanced look, you may want to order two panels (quantity 2).

When entering Panel Width, should I input total coverage width or one panel width?

On the product page, the Panel Width you select/enter is the finished size per panel.

Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
Use the Size Guide on the product page to calculate step-by-step.
If you’d like help, email support@thehues.com with your product link and measurements.

My rod/window width is X—how many panels do I need and what width should each panel be?

The Panel Width/Length you enter on the product page is the finished size per panel.

Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
Example: 100" rod width × 1.5 fullness ÷ 2 panels = 75" per panel.
Click the Size Guide on the product page for a step-by-step calculator, or contact support for help.

Curtains need fullness—how much extra width should I add?

Different Header Styles correspond to different recommended fullness ratios.

Select your header first to see the recommended fullness in the Size Guide/selection area.
Our system will use this to calculate or suggest the best size for you.
Or, feel free to consult customer service for help.

My required width/length isn’t listed (extra wide/long). Can you customize?

Yes. Most made-to-measure cafe curtain listings support per-panel width/length starting at 20" and going up to 200". If you can’t select your size, email support@thehues.com and we’ll help you plan the right split/join solution.

Is it 100% blackout? How effective is the thermal insulation?

Full blackout depends on the product and the lining you choose:

100% Blackout products can achieve full blackout when installed properly with minimal gaps.
For most other curtains (excluding sheer/light-filtering styles), selecting a 100% Blackout Liner can dramatically increase light blocking.
Thermal insulation also depends on fabric thickness and lining—thermal/blackout fabrics or added liners typically provide better insulation.

Can you do grommets at both top and bottom (cafe curtains)?

Yes—grommets on both the top and bottom can be done as a special custom request.

Please email support@thehues.com before ordering with the product link, measurements, and how you want it to function so we can confirm the best approach.

Can I change/customize the lining color (e.g., gray to ivory)?

Yes—please contact support before ordering. If a matching lining fabric is available, we can customize the lining color as a special request.

This may involve an additional cost and/or extended lead time. Email support@thehues.com with your product link and desired lining color (ideally with a reference photo).

Can I order swatches? How do I order them?

Yes. Order directly from Curtain Swatches: select your fabrics/colors and add them to cart.

Limits and shipping/fees follow the latest information shown on the swatch page.

I can’t find the swatch option for a specific color/product—what should I do?

Please email support@thehues.com with the product link and color name, and we’ll help confirm the matching swatch (or the closest available option).
