What is the difference of inside mount and outside mount Roman shades?
Inside mount Roman shades are installed within the window frame, creating a clean, built-in look and allowing for better coordination with existing trim or molding. Outside mount Roman shades are mounted on the wall or above the window frame, covering a larger area and offering more light blockage and privacy, especially for shallow or uneven windows.
How to install Roman shades?
Installing our custom roman shades is quick and easy. Kindly refer to our step-by-step installation tips on Help Center for guidance. Our customer support is also available to assist, ensuring a smooth ordering and installation experience.
Shades Measurement
Inside mount
  • Step 1: For WIDTH, measure the top, middle and bottom portion of the inside frame and use the narrowest width measurement. Then deduct 2/5” to ensure proper usability.
  • Step 2: For LENGTH, measure the left, center and right portion of the inside frame and use the longest height measurement.
Inside mount requires a minimum depth of 3 inches of the window frame.
Outside mount
  • Step 1: For WIDTH, measure the top, middle and bottom portion of the inside frame, then add 4-8” on each side to improve coverage and reduce light gaps.
  • Step 2: For HEIGHT, measure from 4-8" above the window, down to where you want the shade to sit.
No minimum depth requirement.
