Why 100% Linen Drapes Feel Different

The beauty of authentic linen lies in its distinct character and feel. Where some fabrics may have an artificial sheen and a stiff drape, our Tahiti collection celebrates the unique qualities of pure, natural flax. You'll notice its signature "nubby" texture (slubs) and appreciate the gorgeous, substantial weight that is the hallmark of genuine linen.

Because they are natural, they actually breathe. Customers tell us the room literally feels airier—cool in the summer, cozy in the winter. It’s the easiest way to make your space look like it was styled by a pro without actually hiring one.

That "Golden Hour" Glow All Day

The unique weave of our sheer fabric is thoughtfully designed to provide a delicate balance of privacy and light. It offers a sense of seclusion while filtering sunlight into a soft, warm wash of light.

Ideally, you want your room to feel bright but protected. These hit that sweet spot perfectly. If you need total darkness for deep sleep, simply add the 100% blackout lining during the customization process—this is required to achieve a full 100% blackout effect while maintaining the linen aesthetic on the outside.

Made to Measure Linen Curtains That Fit Perfectly

The perfect curtain length is essential for a polished look, yet standard sizes often fall just short. We tailor our curtains to your exact measurements, ensuring a graceful, floor-to-ceiling drape.

Want that dramatic, romantic look where the fabric pools on the floor? Or a clean, modern kiss-the-floor length? You call the shots. Custom sizing means your windows look finished, intentional, and impeccably tailored.

The "Living Fabric" That Ages Gracefully

A defining characteristic of authentic linen is its living quality. This durable, natural fiber grows softer and more supple with time, resists static to minimize dust on your drapes, and handles real life beautifully.

To preserve the natural drape and prevent shrinkage, these curtains are dry clean only. This professional care ensures your investment retains its premium shape and quality for years to come. They're built to last.

FAQ

Is this actually 100% linen or just a 'linen look' blend?

This is the real deal—100% natural flax. A lot of brands sneak in polyester to cut costs, but you can feel the difference instantly. These 100% linen drapes have that signature 'slub' texture and breathable weight that synthetic fabrics just can't fake. Because they are pure natural fiber, they're hypoallergenic and anti-static, too. Basically, if you're looking for that authentic, organic aesthetic that gets softer with age, you've found it.

Will my neighbors be able to see inside at night?

Good question. If you go with the standard unlined option, these are light-filtering. That means total privacy during the day (you can see out, they can't see in), but at night with your lights on, you might see silhouettes from the street. If you live on a busy street or just want total privacy, I highly recommend adding the Privacy Liner or Blackout Liner in the customization menu. You get the same gorgeous linen look on the inside, but with the coverage you need.

Can I throw these in the washing machine?

No, we do not recommend machine washing these curtains. Because they are made of 100% natural linen, they are highly susceptible to shrinkage and texture distortion when exposed to water. To preserve the integrity of the fabric and maintain the precise length of your drapes, we strictly recommend professional dry cleaning only.

Are these actually blackout curtains?

By default, these are light-filtering linen curtains that provide a soft, natural glow. However, you can achieve a 100% blackout effect by selecting the '100% Blackout Liner' option during the customization process. This specialized liner is sewn to the back of the linen, blocking out all incoming light and providing extra insulation without compromising the beautiful flax texture on the front.

Do I need to iron them when they arrive?

That depends on your vibe. Linen naturally wrinkles—it's part of the charm! When you unpack them, they will have some fold lines from shipping. Most people just hang them up and let gravity do the work over a week or two. If you want them crisp immediately, a handheld steamer is your best friend. Just give them a quick steam once they're on the rod. It's way easier than trying to wrestle a giant curtain on an ironing board.

Is the price for one panel or a pair (two panels)?

The price shown is for one curtain panel. For a typical window with a balanced look, you may want to order two panels (quantity 2).

When entering Panel Width, should I input total coverage width or one panel width?

On the product page, the Panel Width you select/enter is the finished size per panel.

  • Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
  • Use the Size Guide on the product page to calculate step-by-step.
  • If you’d like help, email support@thehues.com with your product link and measurements.
My rod/window width is X—how many panels do I need and what width should each panel be?

The Panel Width/Length you enter on the product page is the finished size per panel.

  • Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
  • Example: 100" rod width × 1.5 fullness ÷ 2 panels = 75" per panel.
  • Click the Size Guide on the product page for a step-by-step calculator, or contact support for help.
Curtains need fullness—how much extra width should I add?

Different Header Styles correspond to different recommended fullness ratios.

  • Select your header first to see the recommended fullness in the Size Guide/selection area.
  • Our system will use this to calculate or suggest the best size for you.
  • Or, feel free to consult customer service for help.
Should I add extra length for puddling? What if I don’t have room for it?

Yes. You can choose Hover (about 1" above the floor for a clean look) or Puddle (about 3" onto the floor for a more dramatic look). In the product Size Guide, select the finish you want and it will automatically adjust from your floor measurement.

My required width/length isn’t listed (extra wide/long). Can you customize?

Yes. Most made-to-measure curtain listings support per-panel width/length starting at 20" and going up to 200". If you can’t select your size, email support@thehues.com and we’ll help you plan the right split/join solution.

What is a Header Style, and which one should I choose?

A header style is the top construction of the curtain—how it’s made and how it attaches to your rod or track.

  • Rod vs. track: match the header to your hardware.
  • Look: flat vs. pleated vs. wave, etc.
  • Use: frequent opening/closing often benefits from smoother track-friendly headers.

If you’re unsure, start with the Header Style Guide and match it to your setup.

Do the curtains include S hooks/pinch pleat hooks, or do I need to purchase them separately?

It depends on the header you choose:

  • Grommet / Back Tab / Rod Pocket: no hooks needed—slides directly onto a rod.
  • Pleated / Pleat Hook styles: we include the appropriate hooks based on your selection.
  • Roman Rings / Clip Rings: rings/clips are typically purchased separately to match your rod diameter.

To confirm hardware for a specific SKU, email support@thehues.com with the product link or your order number.

Will my rod diameter fit your grommets/loops?

Rod Pocket works best with rods ≤ 1.25" diameter. For Grommet, the internal diameter is about 1.56" and it pairs best with a 1.5" rod. Always confirm against the header option you select.

Can you make pinch pleats (e.g., double/triple pleats)?

Yes. The guides list multiple pleated options such as Double/Triple French Pinch Pleat, Euro Pleat, Goblet, and Inverted Box Pleat. Availability depends on the header styles offered on your product page. See Measurement Guide and Header Styles.

Can you make blackout/soundproof curtains with the same color on both sides?

Yes:

  • For the same fabric and color on both sides (except the header area), choose Same Fabric Liner.
  • For a close-matching polyester lining, choose Comparable Color Liner. An exact match across different fabrics may not always be possible—contact support to confirm before ordering.
Can I order swatches? How do I order them?

Yes. Order directly from Curtain Swatches: select your fabrics/colors and add them to cart.

Limits and shipping/fees follow the latest information shown on the swatch page.

Will swatch fees/shipping be credited or refunded with a full order?

Whether swatch shipping/fees can be credited toward a full order may vary by promotion.

Please email support@thehues.com to confirm the current rule before placing your full order.

Are tiebacks included or sold separately?

It varies by product—please follow the options shown on your curtain’s product page. This linen curtain listing lets you select tiebacks (for example Free Tiebacks / Matching Tiebacks), which will show in your order/price. If you want tiebacks separately, you can purchase them from Accessories.
