Noise Blocking Curtains Designed to Quiet Your World
For the persistent glow of a streetlamp or the sounds of a busy neighborhood, a standard curtain often falls short. Ours are designed differently, offering a sanctuary of quiet and darkness when you need it most.
We engineered these with four distinct layers—including a velvet exterior, a high-density sound-absorbing sponge felt, and a specialized air-purifying layer made from the same material used in high-grade face masks. While no curtain is 100% soundproof, our acoustic felt layer significantly dampens traffic hum and neighborhood noise. It's like finally turning the volume down on your street so you can actually relax.
100% Blackout Curtains (Yes, We Mean Pitch Black)
Our promise of "blackout" is delivered without compromise. An advanced 4-layer construction with specialized internal layers allows these curtains to achieve a true 100% blackout effect. They are essential for creating a peaceful environment for nursery naps, ensuring restorative sleep for shift workers, or for anyone who enjoys the serenity of a completely dark room.
But it's not just about darkness. That thick 4-layer construction acts as a thermal shield. It keeps your AC inside during summer and blocks cold drafts during winter. You'll actually feel the difference in the room temperature (and you might even see a difference in your energy bill).
Custom Size Blackout Drapes For That High-End Look
The effect of perfectly proportioned drapery can transform a room. Achieving the ideal length and fullness for a truly tailored look is often a challenge with standard, off-the-shelf sizes.
These are made-to-measure for your exact window. Whether you have massive floor-to-ceiling windows or an awkward corner spot, you get a tailored fit that looks like you hired an interior designer. No gaps, no light leaks, just perfect coverage.
Safe Enough for the Nursery (and Your Allergies)
Designed with your well-being in mind, our OEKO-TEX certified curtains are free from harmful substances for a fresh addition to your home. They also feature a specialized air-purification layer—using the same melt-blown material found in protective masks
Maintenance is simple: they are safe to machine wash, just ensure you detach the felt liner before starting the cycle. They also resist dust buildup, keeping your air cleaner and making maintenance easier than standard heavy drapes.

Absolutely fantastic! I was having a major catastrophe and they stepped in and got everything expedited for me. And they’re beautiful! Beyond my expectations. 20/10 recommend!!
What a difference these made! I learned about these from my daughter and we tried them because the bedrooms in our new Nevada house let it way too much light. Both of us need darkness, and my husband had lots of trouble sleeping. It was a window miracle! Plus a fantastic price. Well worth it. When did my daughter get smarter than mom!?
The 84" curtains show the wrinkles and I haven't steamed them out yet.
The curtains are great...These are very good and fit the window, and give the thermal covering and black out that I needed.
Giving these curtains 5 stars rating!!!
The best blackout ever! The pictures speak for themselves! First image, after I switched the 2 old panels with the new panel (on the left side obviously) and the 2 old "shade" panels on the right side of the window...
The picture on the right is after I replaced all 4 panels (my windows are 105 so I have 2 sets of 2 panels).
These blackout curtains are 100% true to their word!
True Blackout Curtains I purchased the Dark Mallard W52 x L84 for my sliding door. Some light pops through on top but that's typical. It's a heavy, thick material which keeps the chill out in the winter months. Def recommend!
These are awesome!!I live in a big city and off a busy main road, I realized my bedroom window was completely transparent at night so I needed something more than the sheers I had. These bad boys do the job! They are totally black out curtains, my phone adjusted to the darkness in my picture but they really do cut off all the light coming in and giving that privacy I was hoping for. They don't have a texture type surface it's a smooth surface, which to me didn't really matter they aren't ugly or cheap looking. They definitely have some weight on them at least 4 extra pounds hung up. Bc of it being a heavier curtain I can definitely imagine it will insulate in the winter and keep in the AC in the summer. They do muffle sound, just not drastically, which for me was totally fine but if you're looking for noise cancellation these aren't that. I was able to easily layer my sheets over the white panels and it was perfect, super happy.
The blackout quality of these turbines is superb. All wrinkles came out with a quick cycle in my dryer. I was very happy with the number of options for widths, as I was able to get matches curtains for my small and large bedroom windows.
Let's in a lot of light at the top but they're better than most blackout curtains on the market. They keep the temperature in the room so much cooler which is a big plus for me in South Florida. Was hoping for them to block out the sun 100% because I work overnights and sleep in the day. Overall the quality is really nice. The material is heavy and thick and they're super soft.
It actually work
First floor on a busy street, this actually works, it dampens the sound enough to not bother me anymore, it also took the internal echo I used to have on zoom calls, very pleased with my purchase, bought a second one for the other bedroom
These curtains are pretty perfect for what I was looking for - my only regret is that I didn't get the longer length! It definitely blocks out light, but I would recommend going with the longest ones because light still filters from the top, so it's best to have the top as close to the ceiling as possible. Love that I can get the look of white curtains while still eliminating 95% of the light! I also fabric-steamed them after hanging them and they look fabulous!
Far from noise reduction, but good at blackout and insulation.
I love being in a very noisy neighborhood in downtown Honolulu with people driving loud vehicles, bombing fireworks no matter the occasion, roosters crowing at any given time of the day, maybe twice a month military helicopters flying at night Pass. I'm a light sleeper and have to close the windows to be quiet, hoping these curtains will let in fresh air from time to time, but for me they're pretty ineffective at noise reduction. They have better noise reduction than my previous curtains, but only a tad?athe crickets in the bedroom are noticeably softer than in the living room with the sliding doors open. But I give the overall product 5 stars because they block out very well and block a lot of solar radiation from our east-facing unit. The insulation is actually surprising as mine is navy blue I think the dark colour might trap the heat but no, I think the layering is enough to keep the heat out. But I also have to say that my wife loves the looks and so do I, so point to the aesthetics. I purchased the pole (120-240 inches) and ceiling bracket from Nicetown. Use an electric hammer to drill the concrete ceiling and the plastic anchors that come with the brackets, so this project is budget friendly.
They really did live up to my expectations! These are the most high-quality, high-density, amazing and beautiful curtains. I've owned some curtains in my life, and these are very much worth the money. I live next to a weirdly noisy street, and even though I'm on the third floor I thought it was going to drive me crazy. Now I don't even notice it (until I like, open a window or go on the patio.... sigh). But dang, do these do their jobs!
Curtains are soft with a suede like feel and the stitching is good. These look and feel like good quality curtains. I know they won't block out sound 100% but they are much thicker than my previous curtains and that will definitely help dampen the outside noises.? I am happy with this purchase
So i didn't get these floor to ceiling as they are in my toddlers room so got 60 something length im sure they would work way better full length and with the wrap around curtain rods.thwy are very heavy just a heads up
1st picture is with the curtain open no light on in the room but flash from my phone(white one are the ones being reviewed)
2nd? is curtains closed with flash
3rd is curtains shut no lights no flash
4th is with the curtains and the teal shut no lights no flash.
I had these curtains for over 2 weeks before reviewing and during that time was 4th of july it helped with the fireworks. Works with the 3 yappy dogs across the street and the crows that sit out front in the morning.
Great blackout curtains! So the doorway to our master bath has no door. We rent... so... I couldn't go about installing a door. I ordered a heavy duty springy curtain rod and ordered these curtains. I installed them as soon as they arrived. They do not let any light from the bathroom windows in at all! My husband gets up around 4am to go to work and I am usually woken up by the sounds he makes in the bathroom... peeing, washing teeth, etc... I wasn't wake up this morning till he came in to say he was leaving. Now, last night I couldn'd hear everything, much muted. So I gave it 5 stars because of that . Overall, I am happy with my order!
Noise cancellation works. Not too much but enough for me.
I live on 10+ floor by the highway. I measured the noise with curtain open and closed respectively. It reduces the noise slightly, but enough for me to get a good-quality sleep. I feel that the price is a little bit expensive, but the material is good.I would not say the curtain is sheer?it is thinner and lighter than I expected though. It has 3 layers and I expected it to be thick enough to absorb noise and the curtain is doing what I expect it to do?so I give it a 5 star.
These curtains block about 90% of light once the sun rises (my window faces SW) and 100% of light from a bright street lampnar night. The material is thick polyester that is difficult to iron out the wrinkles but once it is hung, it is not noticeable. The black liner does not appear grey in daylight through the white curtains. Finding a pair of white blackout curtains was hard but these are good so far. I do notice some light bleeding at the top and on the sides but it's minimum and can easily be fixed with a curtain rod that wraps around. 4.5 stars
Blocks the light really well! My room was completely black with the lights off with the exception of some light trickling in at the top. They drape nicely and you definitely can't beat the price! Wish they had some magical noise blocking powers but they help muffle a bit of noise in the distance at least.
Finally got good sleep in my new apartment
I just moved and my place is near a highway so the cars always zipping by create a lot of white noise, but not the white noise I like. These will not CANCEL noise but they decrease it pretty well. Now the cars sound like they are far away. Make sure you get the correct size. I bought them long enough that the whole window is covered so noise wouldn't "leak" around it. I hung them around 1pm and then took a 2 hour nap that felt like a dream. If this is good during the day then I'm sure the night will be be great too!
These are indeed pure white, true blackout curtains. They drape luxuriously, and are well made, thick and soft.
I bought them for a room that I have recently painted white, and it seems that I will need to do a bit more work to find the right white for the space. This white is perfect for a room that is looking for a pop of clean white. You will definitely get that. It's whiter than my stark white walls. For reference, it is whiter than both the Nano White (matte and semi-gloss) and Ultra Pure White (ceiling flat) paint colors and sheens by Behr.
These curtains are almost perfect. I tend to prefer natural textures to this brushed synthetic (might be brushed microfiber??). The white isn't quite right for my space. But these are still an impressive set of curtains that manage to combine beautiful form and high quality function. It seems that blackout technology has made a big jump since I last looked three years ago. Well done.
I live near a highway and a sometimes busy road is at the end of my backyard. The road noise was so annoying! I thought I would have to move, seriously. After much research, I decided to try these. These drapes softened and muffled the noise. Noises also seem further away, not like standing on the edge of the highway as before. There are in a bedroom and there is a definite quietness compared to other bedrooms. It just feels quieter. They are very thick, heavy and almost suede like in feel. You will need a heavy rod. I think they look nice too. Definitely room darkening but light comes through the top at the grommets. A little steam iron took most of the wrinkles out. So glad I purchased these and would highly recommend!
Keeps out light.I love how dark this curtain is and it keeps out the light except on the sides. I think it would be nice if they put something on the sides to Blick out the light.
For quite and darkness!!!These curtains really do block out lights and sounds!!! Would have never believed it would have worked that well but thy do. You can rest anytime of day with these curtains. Thank you for such a great product. Terri A. , Port Orange, FL
These are amazing! I have never liked curtains so much. They are TRULY blackout. I mean these babies work so well. They are also sooooo soft, unlike many other blackout curtain. They are flowy, easy to move and pull back, and they look great.? If you are on the fence, buy these one. Don't go with another brand, these are the real deal. I highly doubt there is better. And such a great price.
The curtain is beautiful and true to measurements. The blackout function is excellent— exactly 0 light penetrates the curtain. The sound dampening feature feels deceptive; there is nearly no detectable change in noise with the curtain across my large entryway between rooms. I bought this curtain because of the supposed reduction in noise this was going to provide. Overall I’m not upset with this purchase, but I’m certainly disappointed as it really does not perform the way I had expected. I wouldn’t recommend this.
The summer in the British is a bit hot without air conditioning. I tried this heat-insulating curtain. After using it for a while, I recommended it to my neighbor and we both agreed that it was greatttt
White one with stainHad a little dark stain in white curtain but decided to keep it hoping it will come off after wash. Otherwise it's very thick and soft. Feels good and looks fine.
The curtains did arrive safely and all the changes I requested (size and material) were made and the curtains are all good. Thank you for your help in getting this done.
Yes, absolutely. Thanks to the specialized 4-layer construction with integrated middle layers, these curtains achieve a 100% blackout effect. They completely block light from passing through the fabric, ensuring your room remains pitch black when the windows are fully covered.
Will these reduce traffic noise?
They definitely help. The 4-layer design includes a specific layer of sound-absorbing sponge felt between the curtain and the lining. This material is engineered to absorb and dampen sound waves, significantly muffling outside traffic and street noise to create a calmer indoor environment.
Are they difficult to keep clean?
No, they are quite easy to maintain. In addition to being durable, they feature a layer made of the same material used in protective masks. For deep cleaning, they are machine washable—just remember to detach the felt liner first.
Is the material safe for kids' rooms?
100%. Our curtains are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they've been tested for harmful substances. Furthermore, the inclusion of an air-purifying layer—the same material used in protective masks—provides an extra level of protection, making them ideal for nurseries and children's rooms.
Is the price for one panel or a pair (two panels)?
The price shown is for one curtain panel. For a typical window with a balanced look, you may want to order two panels (quantity 2).
When entering Panel Width, should I input total coverage width or one panel width?
On the product page, the Panel Width you select/enter is the finished size per panel.
Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
Use the Size Guide on the product page to calculate step-by-step.
If you’d like help, email support@thehues.com with your product link and measurements.
My rod/window width is X—how many panels do I need and what width should each panel be?
The Panel Width/Length you enter on the product page is the finished size per panel.
Per-panel width = (rod width × fullness) ÷ number of panels
Example: 100" rod width × 1.5 fullness ÷ 2 panels = 75" per panel.
Click the Size Guide on the product page for a step-by-step calculator, or contact support for help.
Curtains need fullness—how much extra width should I add?
Different Header Styles correspond to different recommended fullness ratios.
Select your header first to see the recommended fullness in the Size Guide/selection area.
Our system will use this to calculate or suggest the best size for you.
Or, feel free to consult customer service for help.
My required width/length isn’t listed (extra wide/long). Can you customize?
Yes. This made-to-measure curtain listing supports per-panel width/length starting at 20" and going up to 200". If you can’t select your size, email support@thehues.com and we’ll help you plan the right split/join solution.
What is a Header Style, and which one should I choose?
A header style is the top construction of the curtain—how it’s made and how it attaches to your rod or track.
Rod vs. track: match the header to your hardware.
Look: flat vs. pleated vs. wave, etc.
Use: frequent opening/closing often benefits from smoother track-friendly headers.
If you’re unsure, start with the Header Style Guide and match it to your setup.
Do the curtains include S hooks/pinch pleat hooks, or do I need to purchase them separately?
It depends on the header you choose:
Grommet / Back Tab / Rod Pocket: no hooks needed—slides directly onto a rod.
Pleated / Pleat Hook styles: we include the appropriate hooks based on your selection.
Roman Rings / Clip Rings: rings/clips are typically purchased separately to match your rod diameter.
To confirm hardware for a specific SKU, email support@thehues.com with the product link or your order number.
Will my rod diameter fit your grommets/loops?
Rod Pocket works best with rods ≤ 1.25" diameter. For Grommet, the internal diameter is about 1.56" and it pairs best with a 1.5" rod. Always confirm against the header option you select.
Which option is the most effective for noise reduction / thickest, and which is best for my space?
We offer multiple sound-reducing options (including 4-layer soundproof styles). Because results depend on gaps, mounting, and room conditions, there isn’t a single “best for everyone.” For the most effective setup, focus on a tight seal (minimize top/side gaps) and adequate fullness. If you share your room type and window measurements, we can recommend the best option—email support@thehues.com.
Do you have decibel reduction data or an STC rating/certification?
For our sound-reducing curtains, noise reduction can reach up to about 15 dB under ideal conditions.
Real-world results vary based on installation (especially top/side gaps), room construction, and the noise frequency.
If you need any available test information for a specific style (e.g., Hussein 4 Layers) or want a room-specific setup recommendation, email support@thehues.com with your measurements and photos.
Why is Rod Pocket/Back Tab recommended for noise cancelling?
Rod Pocket / Back Tab can create a tighter seal around the rod and reduce gaps, which helps improve blocking performance. See Soundproof Curtain Guide.
Is it 100% blackout? How effective is the thermal insulation?
Full blackout depends on the product and the lining you choose:
100% Blackout products can achieve full blackout when installed properly with minimal gaps.
For most other curtains (excluding sheer/light-filtering styles), selecting a 100% Blackout Liner can dramatically increase light blocking.
Thermal insulation also depends on fabric thickness and lining—thermal/blackout fabrics or added liners typically provide better insulation.
What’s the difference between Same Fabric Liner and Comparable Color Liner?
Same Fabric Liner: the lining is made from the same fabric as the front, for a more consistent look from both sides (except the header area).
Comparable Color Liner: the lining uses a polyester fabric in a close-matching color for coordinated appearance and value.
Can you make blackout/soundproof curtains with the same color on both sides?
Yes:
For the same fabric and color on both sides (except the header area), choose Same Fabric Liner.
For a close-matching polyester lining, choose Comparable Color Liner. An exact match across different fabrics may not always be possible—contact support to confirm before ordering.
Can I order swatches? How do I order them?
Yes. Order directly from Curtain Swatches: select your fabrics/colors and add them to cart.
Limits and shipping/fees follow the latest information shown on the swatch page.
Are tiebacks included or sold separately?
It varies by product—please follow the options shown on your curtain’s product page. Many curtain listings let you select tiebacks (for example Free Tiebacks / Matching Tiebacks), which will show in your order/price. If you want tiebacks separately, you can purchase them from Accessories.
