Innovative and Different Ways of Hanging Sheer Curtains - TheHues

Whether you buy one big picture window or a bunch of smaller windows, they all need curtains. Curtains are the most popular way to cover those windows. But what kind of curtains should you buy? If you're thinking of sheer curtains, well then, you're right! Sheer curtains are fashionable, versatile, and, most importantly, easy to care for.

If you're looking into buying sheer bedroom curtains, I bet you're considering different ways to hang sheer curtains. Finding the best way of hanging sheer curtains can be a bit tricky, but they can turn any window into an instant focal point with proper curtain installation. To get the most out of these versatile draperies, you'll want to find the right method for your windows.

Check out these tips on different ways you can hang sheer curtains.

Different Ways to Hang Sheer Curtains

Sheer curtains are a great way to add color or light to any room. However, there are so many different ways of hanging them that you might be confused about how to go about it. We have compiled a list of some of the more common ways to hang sheer curtains and window treatments. Including pictures of different ways to hang sheer curtains.

Using ring clips with sheer curtains:

hang curtains with different ways

The first and easiest way to hang sheer curtains is to use ring clips. You can find these at any hardware store, or even the dollar store. If there aren't any in stock, you can request them specifically. They don't cost a lot of money, and they make hanging and taking down the curtains super easy.

We recommend using clips that have a spring mechanism so they are easier to put up and take down. The most important thing to remember is that the clip should be on the top of the curtain rod, not on the wall.

You'll also want to stagger the clips if you're using multiple curtains together, because otherwise the overlap will make it difficult for the clips to work.

Hanging Sheer Curtains as Bed Canopies:

Sheer curtains are an amazing way to make your bed feel like the place you go to be the most beautiful and powerful person in the world. It's true—if you can't afford a big extravagant canopy, sheer curtains are the next best thing.

Get sheer curtains that match your bedding. You want them to blend in so they're not obvious, but it's also fun to have them coordinate with your duvet cover.

Measure your bed and mark off where your curtain rod should go. Basically, you want it 2 inches below the top of your mattress.

Make sure that when you hang up your curtains, there's enough room for you to walk around freely in your room without getting tangled up in the fabric. If you want privacy, buy a second curtain so that there's two layers of sheer fabric separated by an opaque layer that can still let through light.

Hang the sheer curtains from a wire with wooden clothespins:

Here's how to do it:

- Attach a wire to a wall or ceiling with nails or screws, so that it's about waist-high when standing on the floor.

- Loop the wire over a curtain rod, then secure the loop with a knot or small wooden clothespin.

- The wire should now be suspended from the ceiling and be at waist height when you're standing on a chair. Adjust as needed.

- Hang your sheer curtains from the wire using large plastic clothespins.

Hang Sheer Curtains with Blackout Curtains

different ways to hang curtains

Amidst all the tips about window treatments and strategies for natural light, it's easy to forget what we all want: to sleep without being woken up by the sun.

The solution is simple: hang sheer curtains over blackout curtains.

This combination of sheer curtains and blackout curtains ensures that your room will be dark when you want it to be, but also allows in natural light during the day time when you're awake. This is a win-win situation for anyone who wants to block out the sun at night but also enjoy natural light during the day.

The sheer curtains should be two inches shorter than the length of the window. This is because they will overlap when hung. If you want your sheer curtains to fall over the top of the blackout curtains, give them a quarter inch of slack. If you want them to overlap on the sides, leave a few inches' worth of slack.

When choosing sheer curtains, avoid anything that's too see-through—the idea is for them to block light but still let in some light. Sheer curtains come in a variety of textures and patterns, such as stripes or checks; if you like these looks, then go for it! But if not, there are plenty of other options available at TheHues.

Hang Multiple Panels to Enhance Depth and Color:

Hanging a single sheer panel on your window is fine, but if you really want to get a designer look going on, try hanging multiple panels. This can help you create the look of a layered curtain without all of the cost and hassle.

The first way to hang multiple sheer panels is to hang them side-by-side in order to create a more dramatic effect with more depth and color. In this case, you would want to hang two panels at the same height for the best look possible. For example, if you had two sheer panels that were each 66 inches wide, you could hang them both at 66 inches above the windowsill or 63 inches apart from one another for an uneven look.

If you're looking for something that evokes a classic look, try hanging three panels in varying shades of the same hue. If you want something more modern, try two panels in bolder hues. Two neutral panels are always a good option, too! Another tip is to make sure that some of your panels are tinted with black or another dark color so that they'll stand out from the rest of the room—and if you don't like how this looks in person, remember that you can always un-tint them later on.

Create a Window Scarf with Sheer Curtains

ways to hang a window curtains scarf

If you'd like to create a more unique look, consider making your own sheer window scarf with sheer curtains. It may seem daunting at first, but it's not too difficult and makes a great gift idea or something to do on a special day.

Here's how to turn your sheer curtains into window scarves:

#1 - Measure the width and length of your window, and the width of your curtain

#2 - Cut off the top of the curtain so you have two equal pieces. The top piece will be your scarf!

#3 - Take the bottom piece and cut it into strips as long as your window is wide. Make sure they are big enough to tie around your neck when they're folded in half. You want at least 2 inches extra on either side (for tying).

#4 - Fold those strips in half, then sew them together with a zig-zag stitch so that they form one long strip.

#5 - Fold up the top part of the curtain like you would fold an actual scarf to make it thinner. Then tie it around your neck. It's that easy!

Decorate Your Bedroom with Sheers

Sheer curtains are great for bedrooms because they're elegant and beautiful, but let the light through. They're perfect for bedrooms because it lets in enough light to help you wake up in the morning, but lets you sleep if it's too bright.

The best part about sheer curtains is they can be used year-round! In the winter time, they warm up the room and make it seem cozier; in the summertime, they keep out the heat and cool breezes that come through your window.

Our favorite way to decorate with sheer curtains is to hang sheer curtains over your bed. This lets you show off that pretty wall color or patterned wallpaper without having to commit to a full-on headboard, as well as creating an extra bit of privacy for whatever you're doing under there anyway. And hey, if you don't have a headboard yet, you can still get in on all the fun! You can even treat yourself and just get a really fancy curtain rod.

Hang Sheer Curtains Without Drilling

Ok, we're going to cut to the chase. You want to hang sheer curtains without drilling holes in your wall, and you don't want to spend a lot of money on hardware that might not work out. Well, we've got some good news. It is possible to hang sheer curtains without drilling into your walls, and there are great options out there for doing so.

Use Tension Curtain Rod

There's a new way to hang curtains called tension curtain rods. Basically, it works like this: you measure your window and order the appropriate rod online. Then, instead of putting screws into the wall, you just take out a tiny little pin from the rod, and put a hook on the wall where you want your curtain rod to go. Then, you lock it all back together again.

That's it! No holes! No work! Easy-peasy. You'll be all set with your new curtains in no time!
